Plate Loading Test

Plate loading test is based on measuring the force with a plaque that is applied force. The test is applied to shallow depths also in a shaft or boring base.

A small diameter plaque (approximately diameter is 8 cm) is overlapped by the force. Amount of the settlement is measured on the floor by the help of dial gouge and their averages are obtained.

In this test, heavy truck is lifted with a piston to a certain extent, the truck cannot be lifted and it becomes to make pressure to the floor. The test period is 10 minutes. Although shortened plate loading test’s period is maximum 2-3 minutes and same results are acquired in both. Ultimate bearing capacity of soil, deformation modulus and coefficient of soil is aimed at calculating are obtained.
